Save a Twitter GIF as an MP4 Video

How to use it

1. Open the public X or Twitter post containing the GIF and copy its link.
2. Paste that post link into the download box above.
3. Save the available MP4 and enable repeat in your player for looping playback.

Tips and fixes

Expect video rather than a GIF file

The GIF label in a post describes the animation, but X delivers it as MP4 video. This page saves that video format rather than creating a new image file. Seeing .mp4 in the filename is therefore expected. Open it in a compatible video player to view the movement, and check the accepted formats before uploading it somewhere that specifically requests a GIF image.

Control looping in your player

The animation repeats inside X, but a downloaded MP4 follows the playback settings of the app you open it with. Enable repeat or loop if your player offers that option. A clip stopping after one play does not necessarily mean the download is incomplete. Play it again or adjust the repeat setting to watch the same animation continuously on your device.

Copy the post containing the animation

Use a direct link to the post that actually contains the GIF. A profile page or search result does not identify a particular animation. If the GIF appears in a reply, open that reply before copying its link. Also check that the post remains publicly available: a deleted post or a protected account cannot be opened through this download tool.

Renaming is not conversion

Changing a filename from .mp4 to .gif does not change the media inside it. If another app requires a real GIF image, you would need a separate conversion step after downloading the MP4. This page does not perform that conversion. Check what your destination accepts, and make sure you have the creator's permission before reusing or sharing someone else's animation.
